INTERNSHIPS
As a part of the major we are required to have two internships in order to graduate. The first is a small work experience internship and the second a larger on-the-job experience through cooperation with industry retail merchandising and fashion product development establishments.
For my first internship I was lucky enough to land a position in New York City with Cejon Accessories a division of Steve Madden. I am the new design intern and will be able to work closely with the design team assisting them with any errands or tasks. I am also fortunate enough to work closely with the production and sales teams, really being able to grasp how the samples make it from the factory to a store near you.
I recently completed my second internship during Summer 2014 for BCBG MaxAzria in Los Angeles. I was a merchandising and special events intern. My duties ranged from working the employee boutique in the corporate office, to planning our massive warehouse sale, and charity events. It was an experience that I never thought i would be able to have, and I walked away so much more than expected.
